Now Viewing: hyoukaTag type: Copyright (氷菓) The first novel of a high school mystery series called Koten-bu (古典部 or Class Literature Club) written by Yonezawa Honobu that was published in October 31, 2001. The title translates to Frozen Dessert. It was adapted into an anime by Kyoto_Animation that ran from April 22, 2012 to September 16, 2012 with 1 OVA episode. The anime was directed by Takemoto_Yasuhiro and written by Gatou Shoji who previously worked on Kyoto Animation's Full Metal Panic adaptation. The soundtrack was composed by Tanaka Kouhei and the characters were designed by Nishiya_Futoshi. The novel was adapted into a 2017 live action film directed by Asato Mari, and starring Yamazaki Kento and Hirose Alice as Oreki and Chitanda respectively. Oreki Houtarou is an apathetic and lazy teenager who prefers to lay low and live a quiet and peaceful high school life; however, his elder sister who is away on a vacation encourages him to join the Classics Club to do something productive. He enters the club and meets Chitanda Eru, a friendly teenage girl with mesmerizing eyes and a strong curiosity. Although Oreki claims he wants to conserve his energy, he finds himself unable to turn down Eru's requests, and becomes increasingly involved in solving various mysteries around the school.
